In Our Community

ARGO and its team members maintain a long tradition of community involvement.

Richardson Corporate Challenge

In August 2008, ARGO joined with several area organizations for the annual Richardson Corporate Challenge, an Olympics-style competition dedicated to raising money for the Dallas-area Special Olympics.

For three months, employees from area companies, schools, and non-profits competed for trophies and team points in a wide range of events, including golf, bass fishing, darts, and football. This year, ARGO employees brought home 6 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals, securing ARGO’s first place ranking in its division for overall points.

In total, the 2008 Richardson Corporate Challenge raised $125,000 for the Special Olympics. Twenty-five percent of the funds went directly to the Richardson Roadrunners, a local delegation of the Special Olympics.

"Cancer Should Not Have the Last Word" Capital Campaign

From February to August 2008, ARGO employees came together to raise money for the Richardson Regional Medical Center Foundation’s “Cancer Should Not Have the Last Word” capital campaign. The capital campaign supports the newly-constructed Richardson Regional Cancer Center, which provides North Texans with advanced oncology treatment and support services.

The months-long drive at ARGO featured several events designed to promote creativity and build team spirit. For example, one of the most successful events, a silent auction, encouraged participants to auction off handmade items or personal services, such as lawn care or computer installation. As David Engebos, ARGO president and COO, noted, “The fundraising events were not only for a worthy cause; they turned out to be a great team building opportunity for our people to come together in a sense of community and work together on a common cause.” Nearly 100 percent of ARGO employees participated in the campaign.

The events were also a financial success, with ARGO employees raising over $16,000. In addition, ARGO matched its employees’ contributions dollar for dollar, bringing the grand total to over $32,000.

In August, ARGO presented the Richardson Regional Medical Center Foundation Capital Campaign with a check for $32,108. Pictured from left to right are Judy Martin, Jennifer Vitera, Gilbert Araujo, Steve Puckett, Pat Kaster, and David Engebos.
